Tholakele of White City (2016)

As she walks down Tjbane Street in White City, Soweto she catches attention. Her neighbors greet her and usually invite her for a beer. I met Tholakele (meaning 'has been found and given us' in Ndebele)-Winlove Mosia, 36, in February 2016 and for the rest of the year she invited me to see her world. A world that accumulates the sweet and sour taste of life. During that year Tholakele found out that she was pregnant for the third time. She previously suffered from miscarriages due to the fact that she has a particularily short stature. One day she told me that the father of the unborn child got stabbed and died in the streets of Alexandra, Johannesburg. She wanted to go to the funeral but it was held in the Eastern Cape, too  far for her to travel although eventually she managed.

Tholakele introduced me to see what she sees in her everyday life. She invited me to witness her ups and downs. Interested in her as a person, I followed her.
