Happy Valley - In Search of Stillness (2016)

Nestled in between two mountains, in a former weapon arsenal lays Happy Valley, a homeless shelter for adults in Cape Town, South Africa. It is a quiet and peaceful place that unites all kinds of peoples fates together despite their background, race or gender, in a country yet so segregated.

The 65 residents experienced different factors which drove them onto the streets, which provides an insight into the complex and diverse causes of becoming a social outcast due to reasons such as family dysfunction, financial crisis, mental and physical health issues, social disintegration and criminal affiliation. Happy Valley offers the residents some time off from their fast-paced surroundings.
